Hi Ladies....
Hope everyone had a safe, lovely long weekend. Looks like we may be in for some Summer Weather over the next few days and throughout most of August. Let's hope that includes our week of Club Championship play on August 17th, 18th and 20th. Please remember to sign up on the sheet posted for Club Championship play. Last day to register will be Thursday, August 13th. Ladies Club is pleased to say we have retained the "scoring services" of Don Johnson and Wayne Brown again this year. They did a great job of entering the scoring information from the player cards onto the posters last year - neat & legible for all to see. Important to keep your own scorecard so you can compare to the poster. The only error encountered last year was in "penmanship" - not deciphering the number entered on scorecard. It was caught immediately so no harm - no fowl...but please keep it legible. We ask if you are playing in Club Championship please be prepared to play ALL three days. If you are not taking part in the Championship, we still offer tee time(s) for you to play on Thursday, August 20th. You will go out ahead of the Club Championship players and will be back on the Patio ready to welcome our Players in. Ladies Club will be providing light snacks and refreshments (Wings, Nachos, Fries, Dips and MIMOSAS) ...thanks again, to our New-To-You Clothing Sale and the gals that worked so hard to make it a success. Anyone willing to help collect scorecards and deliver to our Patio Scoring Team each day would be greatly appreciated. Please drop me a note or speak to me at the course. Club Championship is a highlight of our golfing season - 3 days of competitive golf with some pretty amazing prizes to be celebrated at our AGM in October. Remember to breathe, play well and have FUN!!! At the end of competition, we will be surrounded by good food, good friends and good times - nothing to stress about!!! Everyone has a camera... take lots of pictures so we can put them on our website and share with each other. Make Memories....
Attached, you will find our 2026 Club Championship Poster and a set of Rules. Please review both and, any questions, bring up Thursday or as soon as possible so we can make sure we all understand and are comfortable. We are so fortunate to have Yoshi Sekihara overseeing this Club Championship event as our interim Rules Chair. Thank you, Yoshi for assisting us with questions and clarifications of Rules. Yoshi is also playing in the Championship so please restrict your on-course concerns and questions to after the round each day. And, as always, if you're uncertain while on the course, play two balls, score both balls, then bring your question/concern to Patio (see Yoshi) BEFORE you go to your vehicle and BEFORE you sign your card. We will be posting these documents at the course for your convenience as well as our ruling for play-offs or countbacks in the event of a tie. Gross & Net ties are handled separate from one another. The rulings are part of our Operation Rules if anyone wants to review before we post.
In other news, Tammy Hilton is still back east helping both her parents navigate the health system and their respective challenges so please keep her and her family in your thoughts, prayers, positive vibes - whatever you subscribe to. We miss hearing that laugh....well, maybe not EVERYONE....LOL... but look forward to Tammy's return as soon as she can. Yoshi and I will set up a meeting with Superintendent Larry to go over concerns with the course set up for our Championship. We'll be asking for tee blocks to be set back, GUR clearly marked, #15 tee box close to cart path, etc. Trees marked with Blue Ribbons are Memorials and you get 1 club-length free relief (no closer to hole). If you have any other suggestions, you would like Yoshi and I to consider please drop us a note. NO PROMISES...but, we'll try.
I'm sure I've forgotten 8 things I wanted to share but my memory is failing and ....SQUIRRELL!!!!! LOL.... Anyway, I'll see you on Thursday this week, but I'll have to hurry away (Legion Loan Cupboard) but if you have an idea, suggestion, etc....drop me or any member of our Executive a quick note and we'll get back to you asap. And FYI....Men's Club Championship started last Saturday (Day #1) and will continue this Saturday (Day #2) and Sunday (Day #3) will crown their Champion. GOOD LUCK, Players.
Happy August, everyone...
Cheers,
Arlene - CAPTAIN
